Put a new photo behind your subject
Short answer: open Cutova with a photo background already selected, add your picture, then choose one of the six free background photos (or a blur of the original) and download it. The AI cuts out your subject and places it on the new scene, in your browser.
A new scene can turn an ordinary snapshot into a poster, a post or a cleaner portrait. The cutout is the easy part; what makes the result believable is choosing a background that matches your photo.

Step by step
Open the tool with a photo background
Use the button on this page: Cutova opens on the Background tab with a photo background already chosen.
Add your picture
Choose a file, drag it onto the page or paste it with Ctrl+V.
Pick a scene
Choose among the free photos: sea and pier, night lights, sunny field, city at sunset, dusk hills, blue sky. Or choose Blur to keep your own background, softened.
Make it fit
Add a soft shadow, and adjust brightness, contrast or temperature so the subject matches the light of the scene.
Download
Download a JPG or PNG at the size of your original, or all your images in one ZIP.
Choose a background that matches
- Light: if your subject is lit from the left, prefer a scene with light coming from the left.
- Distance: a portrait taken up close looks natural on a blurred, distant background (night lights, sky).
- Color: warm skin tones sit well on sunset scenes; cool light suits the sea and the sky.
- Horizon: for full-body photos, keep the feet below the horizon line of the scene.
Blur instead of replacing
Sometimes the best background is the one you already have. The Blur option keeps your original scene but softens it, like a large-aperture lens: the subject stands out and the place is still recognizable. Raise the strength until distractions disappear.
Make the subject look like it belongs
Small adjustments make a big difference. A light shadow grounds the subject. A little warmth or coolness (Temperature) helps it match the scene. If the edges show a halo from the old background, clean them with the Erase brush.
About the background photos
The six scenes come from Pexels, whose license allows free use, including commercial use, without attribution. Using your own image as a background is planned.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own photo as the background?
Not yet. For now you can choose one of the six free scenes, a blur of your original photo, a solid color or transparency. Custom background images are planned.
Will the result be full resolution?
Yes. The background scene is scaled to cover your photo, and the download keeps the size of your original.
Can I use the result commercially?
Yes. Your images stay yours, the background photos come from Pexels (free for commercial use) and the AI models are under licenses that allow commercial use.
Why does my subject look pasted on?
Usually the light does not match. Try another scene, add a soft shadow, and adjust brightness and temperature until the subject and background look lit the same way.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
